My Mouth Can Predict the Future Chapter 3

Chapter 03

After that incident, the city police chief eagerly detailed my achievements to his superiors. He was deeply shocked but insisted on having me transferred under his wing. With Expert Xiao on their side, those cold cases that had long baffled the precinct would surely become much easier to solve.

Despite the reluctance of the higher-ups to lend me out, they could not resist the chief’s repeated pleas. Eventually, they agreed to let me assist his department for a while.

With my involvement, the police station quickly cracked multiple long-standing cold cases. The criminals who had evaded the law for years, even decades, were finally apprehended.

One case that left a lasting impression on me involved a brutal murder. The perpetrator had raped and murdered a young woman, then fled to another city. When the police knocked on his villa’s door, he was peacefully dining with a family.

It turned out that after years on the run, he changed his name and started a business, becoming a billionaire tycoon. Because of my truthful mouth, he was brought to justice in his lifetime, restoring some peace to the victim’s family.

Within just a month, commendation banners filled the precinct walls, hanging so densely they barely fit. The Fuyuan District Police Station became a legendary detective agency in the eyes of the community.

Other precincts became envious and vied to have me transferred to them. But Fuyuan District refused to release me.

While the higher-ups agonized over this dispute, an even higher authority issued an order. I was to be transferred straight to the Provincial Police Department.

This stunned the districts. When your superior requests someone, refusal is out of the question.

So Fuyuan District had to let me go. The officers saw me off with sad eyes that almost triggered my social anxiety. Just before stepping into the car, the chief urged me to visit more often. I smiled awkwardly. Treating a precinct like home was not easy for me.

Thus, over the next month, my desk moved from the city police station to the provincial headquarters. My two towering bodyguards became four. Chen Wei was transferred with me as well. I asked why he had moved too. He said it was an order from higher-ups and he had no choice.

Today was my first day at the provincial headquarters. I sat in my spacious thirty-square-meter office, lost in thought. It felt like I was attending a very novel type of job.

One month ago, I was still worrying about an internship certificate. Now, I had officially been made a permanent civil servant. This promotion speed felt like riding a rocket.

Knock knock knock

Chen Wei entered, carrying a cup of coffee and smiling warmly.

"Expert Xiao, how does it feel?"

I was about to respond seriously, but my mouth jumped ahead.

"Feels very lonely."

Chen Wei laughed. "Indeed, it’s quiet. Your office is almost as big as the provincial director’s. I’ll get some plants to brighten it up. Oh, and the boss wants to see you."

This came as no surprise. Over the past month, I had met many high-ranking officials.

Entering the boss’s office, several stern-looking figures glanced my way. Clearly, they awaited me.

The director stood and approached me with a smile, extending his hand.

"Welcome, Expert Xiao. Glad you’re here."

Though a bit overwhelmed, my mental training kept me poised. After a one-hour meeting with these veterans, I finally returned to my office.

The provincial police had been chasing a drug cartel for ages but had not caught the ringleader. These traffickers were cunning and no one knew their main base or their big transit hubs.

All resources had been deployed, yet progress was scant. The traffickers grew brazen, and failure would bring disgrace to the department.

The deadline given from above drew near, adding more pressure and worry.

"Expert Xiao, where is their den? Which spots are common trading sites?" "How many members? How many weapons?" "What is the terrain like? Are there secret escape routes? Where exactly?" "What is the most precise capture plan?"

The tactical unit leader bombarded me with questions. My mouth answered confidently for each one.

I even drew detailed maps of the drug den, including the lab, the gang leader’s quarters, and trade locations.

Thanks to my intel, the operations went smoothly. In just one week, the entire cartel was wiped out.

The provincial police gained nationwide fame. I became well known as well.

Fame can be a double-edged sword. My office was bustling daily.

At the victory banquet, the director raised his glass for a toast.

"Expert Xiao, you’re the hero of this operation."

My mouth blurted, "If only the cafeteria had more variety."

Mouth works faster than brain.

The director laughed heartily.

"Expert Xiao really has a sense of humor."

The very next day, cafeteria dishes doubled, including several of my favorite hometown recipes.

My time at the provincial headquarters was the most fulfilling period of my life.

I helped solve case after case, dismantling crime rings one by one.

The provincial unit became a model organization in the country, featured on many TV programs.

Everyone showed renewed energy and pride. We had never felt so honorable.

One day, after busting a major human trafficking gang, the central authorities sent a notice: Notice of Comrade Qiao Xin’s Transfer to the Special Department.

Yes, I was being summoned again, this time from the provincial headquarters.
